The 8th Greater Bay Area STEAM Excellence Award 2026 (HKSAR)
Background
The Greater Bay Area STEAM Excellence Award (HKSAR) has been organised by the Hong Kong New Emerging Technology Education Association (HKNETEA) since 2019. Its primary goal is to enhance students' creativity and innovation, while recognising young talents in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics). This award also acknowledges the dedication of schools and teachers committed to advancing STEAM education.

Applicants can participate in the following streams:

Student participants can join individually or in small groups of up to five members. Students from mainland schools are also invited to participate, either independently or through school nominations.
Objectives of Each Category
ICT Category
Encourages students to develop digital literacy and leverage technology for effective communication, data management, and problem-solving. Applicants must present their work clearly, detailing their problem-solving approach, the technologies used, and the impact of their solutions.
Life and Health Category
Focuses on developing innovative solutions to health-related challenges using scientific principles and emerging technologies. Students are encouraged to explore personal health, nutrition, and wellness, addressing real-world health issues through research and project design.
New Materials and New Energy Category
Aims to inspire students to create innovative ideas and applications involving emerging materials and energy sources. Applicants should consider the environmental impact and propose novel technologies and processes for a sustainable future.
Science Video Category
Encourages creative communication of scientific concepts to enhance understanding and engagement. Participants should disseminate scientific knowledge, advocate the scientific method, and showcase research outcomes using new technologies in artistic creations.
Rotary Water Purification Category
Invites students to develop effective methods for water purification, raising awareness of clean water scarcity. Applicants must combine emerging technologies to create low-cost water treatment solutions.
General Eligibility Requirements
Participants should be aware of best practices and case-based experiences as outlined by the Office of Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data. In case of any disputes, the organiser's decision will be final and binding.
Participation Details by Stream
Primary School Stream
Eligibility: Full-time Hong Kong primary students (P.1 – P.6, academic year 2025-2026).
Project Format: Individual or group (up to 5 members).
Submission: Essay (400 words), short video, or PPT.
Administration Fee: Free
Junior Secondary School Stream
Eligibility: Full-time Hong Kong secondary students (F.1 – F.3, academic year 2025-2026).
Project Format: Individual or group (up to 5 members).
Submission: Essay (600 words), short video, or PPT.

Senior Secondary School Stream
Eligibility: Full-time Hong Kong secondary students (F.4 – F.6, academic year 2025-2026).
Project Format: Individual or group (up to 5 members).

Eligibility: Local registered vocational/tertiary students (Higher Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor), including graduates from the academic year 2025-2026. Non-local students are welcome.

Submission: Essay (1,500 words), short video, or PPT.
Administration Fee: Free
Postgraduate Stream
Eligibility: Local registered tertiary students (Master and PhD), including graduates from the academic year 2025-2026. Non-local students are welcome.

STEAM Teacher Stream
Designed to enhance teaching practices, promote professional development, and integrate STEAM effectively in classrooms. Teachers are encouraged to develop inclusive assessment methods that cater to diverse learning styles.
STEAM School Stream
Encourages schools to foster interdisciplinary learning, creativity, and innovation, inspiring students to appreciate the importance of STEAM and its societal impact.
Top 10 STEAM Teachers is open to teachers from all schools, while Top 10 STEAM Schools is specifically for primary and secondary institutions, allowing schools to nominate a representative STEAM teacher or team.
Best Participating Schools recognises schools that demonstrate a strong commitment to STEAM education, providing opportunities for students and fostering a culture of innovation.

一般資格要求
建議學生了解個人資料私隱專員公署頒布的最佳做法和以個案為基礎的經驗。

小學組

STEAM教師組
在加強教學實踐,促進專業發展,促進將STEAM融入課堂的創新方法,指導開發準確衡量學生對STEAM學科理解和技能的評估方法,並採取包容性教學實踐,以適應學生的需求。
STEAM學校組
在鼓勵學校培養學生的跨學科學習、創造力、 創新能力、解決問題的能力,並激勵學生運用他們的STEAM知識和技能,以加深對STEAM的重要性及其對社會的影響的認識。
十佳STEAM教師獎項對學生組別的所有教師開放參與,而十佳STEAM學校獎項則專為小學和中學設立。參與的學校可以指定一名STEAM教師或一組STEAM教師參加比賽。獲獎者(學校/教師) 將被邀請參加我們的各種活動,為 STEAM 教育的持續發展和創新創造一個支持性的環境!
此外,更設有最積極參與學校,旨在表彰致力為學生提供機會發展技能、培養創新文化以及積極參與 STEAM 競賽和項目的學校。

Q: Submission of materials : Other than an article/report, is it necessary to submit other materials, such as PPT, video, design sketch, or development plan? 作品材料提交: 除了作參賽作品,是否需要提交其他材料,如PPT、視頻短片、設計草圖或發展計劃?
A: It not compulsory but preferably submit a video clip or presentation slides (eg. PPT). You may include design sketch, or development plan in your article/report or PPT or video clip, if you think fit. 沒有強制的,但最好剪輯短片或演示幻燈片 (例如 PPT)。 如果您認為合適,可以在作品或 PPT 或剪輯短片中包含設計草圖或發展計劃。

A: In general, different categories have different focuses. If applicants have entry that may serve more than one category, they may consider to make multiple applications. A: Only need to submit soft copy through google form, no hardcopy is required. 只需要通過谷歌表格提交電子文檔,不需要任何紙本。

A: Face-to-face presentation is required for Final judging. 最終評審需要現場演示作品。

A: Not compulsory. 不是強制性的。

A: There is a time limit set for each stream’s presentation. 每個組別的演示都有時間限制。

A: To determine the appropriate stream for your team to join in the competition, you should identify the grade level of each team member. The stream you should apply through is based on the highest grade level of any member on your team. 扶輪淨水: 旨在鼓勵學生開發創新且有效的淨化水的方法,提高人們對清潔水短缺的認識,培養解決問題的能力,並激發未來應對全球水挑戰的解決方案。學生需提出應用設計概念或結合新興技術(如物聯網、行動應用、水處理技術、自清潔和無水衛生技術等)進行低成本水處理。
一般資格要求
建議學生了解個人資料私隱專員公署頒布的最佳做法和以個案為基礎的經驗。
如有任何爭議,主辦單位保留最終決定權,並對各方均有約束力。
小學組
開放給全日制香港小學生(小一至小六,2025-2026學年)。參賽作品可以由個人或不超過五名學生的小組進行。提交作品可以是400字論文、視頻短片或PPT的形式。(免付行政費)
初中組
開放給全日制香港中學生(中一至中六,2025-2026學年)。參賽作品可以由個人或不超過五名學生的小組進行。提交作品可以是600字的論文、視頻短片或PPT的形式。(免付行政費)
高中組
開放給全日制香港中學生(中一至中六,2025-2026學年)。參賽作品可以由個人或不超過五名學生的小組進行。提交作品可以是800字的論文、視頻短片或PPT的形式。(免付行政費)
大專大學組
開放給本地註冊職業/大專院校學生(高級文憑、副學士及學士學位),包括2025-2026學年畢業生申請者。也歡迎非本地學生。參賽作品可以由個人或不超過五名學生的小組進行。提交作品內容可以是1500字的論文、視頻短片或PPT的形式。(免付行政費)
研究生組
課程須由本地註冊大專學生進行,亦歡迎非本地學生(碩士及博士),包括2025-2026學年畢業生申請。參賽作品可以由個人或不超過五名學生的小組進行。提交作品(*)內容可以是2000字的論文、視頻短片或PPT的形式。(免付行政費)
STEAM教師組
在加強教學實踐,促進專業發展,促進將STEAM融入課堂的創新方法,指導開發準確衡量學生對STEAM學科理解和技能的評估方法,並採取包容性教學實踐,以適應學生的需求。
STEAM學校組
在鼓勵學校培養學生的跨學科學習、創造力、創新能力、解決問題的能力,並激勵學生運用他們的STEAM知識和技能,以加深對STEAM的重要性及其對社會的影響的認識。
十佳STEAM教師獎項對學生組別的所有教師開放參與,而十佳STEAM學校獎項則專為小學和中學設立。參與的學校可以指定一名STEAM教師或一組STEAM教師參加比賽。獲獎者(學校/教師) 將被邀請參加我們的各種活動,為 STEAM 教育的持續發展和創新創造一個支持性的環境!
此外,更設有最積極參與學校,旨在表彰致力為學生提供機會發展技能、培養創新文化 以及積極參與 STEAM 競賽和項目的學校。

Q: Submission of materials : Other than an article/report, is it necessary to submit other materials, such as PPT, video, design sketch, or development plan? 作品材料提交: 除了作參賽作品,是否需要提交其他材料,如PPT、視頻短片、設計草圖或發展計劃?
A: It not compulsory but preferably submit a video clip or presentation slides (eg. PPT). You may include design sketch, or development plan in your article/report or PPT or video clip, if you think fit. 沒有強制的,但最好剪輯短片或演示幻燈片 (例如 PPT)。 如果您認為合適,可以在作品或 PPT 或剪輯短片中包含設計草圖或發展計劃。

A: In general, different categories have different focuses. If applicants have entry that may serve more than one category, they may consider to make multiple applications. A: Face-to-face presentation is required for Final judging. 最終評審需要現場演示作品。

A: Not compulsory. 不是強制性的。

A: There is a time limit set for each stream’s presentation. 每個組別的演示都有時間限制。

A: To determine the appropriate stream for your team to join in the competition, you should identify the grade level of each team member. The stream you should apply through is based on the highest grade level of any member on your team. In this category, Applicants may showcase projects related to digital literacy, technology integration in education, cybersecurity, coding skills, and more.
